The Louvre is the most visited museum in the world possessing a magnificent collection of paintings, drawings and archaeological findings from the V century BC and ending with the middle of the XIX century. It is the former residence of the Kings of France repeatedly expanded, renovated and converted from medieval fortress to magnificent Royal Palace.

The Louvre Museum was opened to visitors in 1793. It houses 35,000 works of art, displayed in over 60,000 square meters of exhibition space that is divided into eight main thematic sections: Egyptian Antiquities, Near Eastern Antiquities, Greek, Etruscan, and Roman Antiquities, Islamic Art, Sculpture, Decorative Arts, Paintings, Prints and Drawings.




The museum exhibits are
such masterpieces as “Mona Lisa”,
“Venus de Milo” and “Winged Victory of Samothrace”,
as well as famous canvas by Rembrandt,
Raphael, Rubens, Delacroix, Goya and Botticelli.
