Opera Garnier

The suptuous and prestigious Opera Garnier building
was designed by Charles Garnier in times of Napoleon III.
Its beauty and massive size, splendid ornamental decor
and Italian type hall with Chagall paintings on the ceiling
is described as a “triumph of molded pastry”.

Place de la Concorde

The Place de la Concorde is the central plaza of Paris
with eight statues on its four corners representing the eight major cities
of France (Brest and Rouen in the northwest, Lille and Strasbourg
to the northeast, Lyon and Marseille on the Quai des Tuileries
and Bordeaux and Nantes in the southwest). The square is famous for
the 3300 years old pink granite monolith Luxor obelisk
located in the center. It was presented as a gift to Charles X
by the Egyptian viceroy Mehemet Ali in 1829.

Champs Elysees

Probably the most famous boulevard in Europe with the length
about 2,5 km, from the Place de la Concorde to the Arch of Triumph.
Here you can find a lot of offices of world-famous companies along
with the luxury shops, cinemas, restaurants, cafes, among them are
the cabaret “Lido” and legendary restaurant “Le Fouquet’s”.
Charlie Chaplin, Sasha Gitri and James Joyce were frequent visitors here
as well as many other celebrities.

Arch of Triumph

Built in 1836, the Arch of Triumph was dedicated
to honor Napoleon’s campaigns in Europe.
It is decorated with engraved names
of major victories and reliefs are reflecting battles.
The arch is located in the middle of the Place Charles de Gaulle
at the center of a star-shaped configuration of 12 radiating avenues.
The streets are named after French military leaders.

Eiffel Tower

Eiffel Tower is one the landmarks of Paris
visited by more than 5 million people each year.
Built in 1889 for the Universal Exhibition
in celebration of the French Revolution,
it was the tallest building in the world (324 meters) for a long time.
Despite the fact, construction of the tower was protested
by many at the beginning, it is now completely accepted
and listed as one of the symbols of Paris.

Hotel des Invalides

Hotel des Invalides was founded in 1670 by Louis XIV
as a military hospital and retirement home for war veterans.
Nowadays it is a complex of buildings containing
the Musee de l’Armee, the military museum of the Army of France,
the Musee des Plans-Reliefs, and the Musee d’Histoire Contemporaine,
as well as the burial site for some of France’s war heroes,
notably Napoleon Bonaparte. In addition to a large impressive building
of Les Invalides, there is a church
which is majestically crowned
by a large gold-embellished dome.

Alexandre III Bridge

Emperor of Russia Nicholas II laid
the first foundation stone of the bridge in 1896.
It symbolizes the centuries-old friendship
between France and Russia.
Two statues of Pegasus on both sides
of the bridge symbolize peace and war.

Ex-royal residence of the XIV century,
nowadays is one of the world's largest
and richest museums.
The Louvre Museum contains

Notre Dame Cathedral

Construction of the cathedral began
in the XII century and continued almost two centuries.
The cathedral is designed basing on Gothic architecture,
with several large rose windows, colorful stained glasses,
pointed arches and spires, and innovative sculptures,
such as Gargoyles. The Notre Dame Cathedral now
is more than just a part of culture,
